Nostalgia, Zombies, Movies & Runs

July, a month filled with happiness, crapiness and everything in between! Couple of awesome things that happened this month:
  • Managed to watch a much awaited movie that released this month.  About the movie - hot actors, amazing location and background score, fancy fight scenes - 'nuff said! I couldn't stop raving about this movie for two weeks!
  • A bad habit cultivated over the last 6 years has finally been taken care of! Yay (indeed)! I can finally wake up early in the morning and catch up on some exercise before heading off to work. Waking up early does in fact make one's day better - I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's true.
  • Downloaded the latest update of Plants Vs. Zombies 2! Finally!! Got to the Lost City 2 level and whooping some ancient Zombie ass right now.
  • Scooby Doo (from the early 90's) is back on TV! Man! I cannot believe I've grown so old! I hope they bring back Dexter's Lab, Jetsons, Flintstones and Captain Planet soon!

Apart from this, learnt a couple of life lessons the hard way, but the crappy days are not as important as the good ones. To quote one great visionary in this regard - 'Man needs his difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy success'.

The world lost an important person a couple of days ago; there aren't many people who are loved by millions, irrespective of caste, creed, race and religion.  However, there was one inspiration - a scientist, a teacher and a president.

Rest in peace Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam! You will forever be cherished in the hearts of millions!

The month that was!

What a month this was! I'm not sure what's worse, Maggi ban or Jon Snow's apparent death. Alright, to start off with where I signed off my last post - I barely completed the books I picked to read! Quite sad considering I read a new book per week since April.

Things I've realized over the last month:
  • Chocolate pizza exists! Now, the photos on Google don't look that enticing with the cheese and chocolate mix, but this one thing, I'd love to try.
  • Where humility and generosity meets passionate and driven, you've got Sir Richard Branson! He's just reached the #2 spot on my list of people I'd like to meet in this lifetime! (I'm sorry, #1 is reserved just for Thor).
  • Importance of disconnecting from gadgets we can't live without on a daily basis; ironical, but it's true! You accomplish way more and are more observant when you forget your phone at home for a day.
  • How fortunate I am to live so close to the Himalayan range! I cannot stop ogling at the pictures on the Facebook group 'The Himalayan Club'. Now my Chrome history bar is filled with trek details and my bucket list is overflowing with ideas.
  • It's quite surprising how we all tend to crave the forbidden; I love Maggi, but it's something I can live without, until this very month. Since the ban imposed on this product, all I want to do is make a bowlful of Maggi and slurp it up to the last drop, everyday!
Here's wishing the ban is taken down before my next blog post. #SuperOptimistic

P.S. Too sleepy to proof read for grammatical errors!

My first blog!

After a week contemplating whether or not to pen down my thoughts on a digital forum, I decided to actually go ahead and do it! Quite a big step for someone who hasn't even posted one tweet on Twitter or updated her Facebook status in three years. I mean it easily took me about an hour to just figure out a nom de plume I could use!

About me.
I'm not a socially awkward person, however, I do act weird when I meet someone new for the first time. My grammar isn't great, as evidenced by this blog post; I always have a couple of friends proof read important e-mails and letters for me. I love food, mainly desserts, and I'm not a seasoned traveler yet(my blog title seems quite misleading, sorry). Most importantly, I absolutely love singing in my car while driving.

Why blog.
Around February 2015, a friend and I decided we would do big things this year and started making a list of things we wanted to do before we turned 25. Blogging was one of the points in that list for me.

Why today.
I don't believe in waiting for tomorrow or a Monday or first of a month/year to start something new. Time doesn't wait and neither should I. Also, today is my best friend's birthday and after posting an embarrassing 'Happy birthday' note on Facebook (for which he reported me as Spam), I decided today might be a nice day to start off with this.

What would I blog about.
No clue whatsoever! However, I do love reading books and hope to post my reviews on a couple of books that I pick out to read every week. This week's pick include 'Screw it, let's do it' by Richard Branson and 'Eat Pray Love' by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Five years down the line, I hope to have at least a bunch of quality posts though, about life and stuff (maybe, just maybe!).

P.S. Happy birthday Gummybear!
